"Transformers 2" Looking for Airmen

Air Force Times reports that the upcoming "Transformers" sequel is looking for airmen to appear in extras in the film. The production company wants to use service members as much as possible and is forming two teams.

Projected dates for the Shanghai Team are June 2-4 and July 22-25. Projected dates for the Forrest Team are June 16-17, June 23, August 22 and September 15-16. Volunteers must be available for all the dates the team is scheduled to shoot.

Military volunteers must take leave, fill out an off-duty employment form and provide two head-and-shoulders photos of front and side views, according to Senior Master Sgt. Vincent Aragona, an Air Force liaison for the movie. Additionally, volunteers need to be familiar with weapons and ground combat operations.

While airmen anywhere can apply, Aragona said airmen who live outside the Los Angeles area will have to provide their own transportation to Southern California and lodging there. Once filming starts, lodging, meals and transportation to movie sites outside of Los Angeles will be provided by the production company.

E-mail contact information, photos and team preference to: Vincent.aragona@afnews.af.mil and Vincent.aragona@losangeles.af.mil. For more information, call Senior Master Sgt Vincent Aragona at (310) 235-7532.

Rainn Wilson Cast in "Transformers 2"

MTV News sat down with Rainn Wilson ("The Office"), who revealed that he has a small role in the upcoming "Transformers" sequel, in which he will play some king of a professor. "A professor that turns into a car that turns into a robot," he laughed.

The star of the popular TV Sitcom, "The Office" (Dwight Schrute) says he hasn't read the entire script yet so cannot comment much about the content of the Summer 2009 blockbuster flick. You can check out the interview here.

Michael Bay Vows to Spread False Transformers 2 Rumors

Apparently, Michael Bay is taking action to combat the early leakage of vital Transformers 2 inside information. After the leaked production photos and concept work for the first transformers movie, Bay has decided to take a proactive stance in regards to the sequel, set to be released in June 2009. Here’s the scoop from the man himself:

“One thing I do know is I know how to screw them up more… We’re going to leak a lot of false information all over the place. I now know their game. They’re going to get a lot of script treatments that they think are going to be the script. They will never see the script. We’ve got scripts and treatments written up that we’re going to leak. No one’s going to know. There’s one out that’s fake right now. There are going to be many others.”

Bay might have figured out how to stop fans from trying to piecing together the story ahead of time. He added that scoopers who currently think they're sitting on a hot one, should know that "there's one out that's fake right now. There are going to be many others."

In the days leading up to the writer's strike, Bay was in the trenches working on the sequel script. "Every day now. I'm excited about it. We've got Alex [Kurtzman] and Bob [Orci], the original writers, and we've got Ehren Kruger (Blood and Chocolate, The Ring), who's a new writer coming in. We have three very good writers."

Tyrese and John Voight Return

Chud have confirmed that John Voight (Defense Secretary John Keller) and Tyrese Gibson will be reprising their roles in the movie sequel:

‘I just talked to Shia a second ago, and left John Voight a message 15 minutes ago,’ he said, inadvertently letting slip that Voight’s Secretary of Defense character returns for the sequel.

‘Michael Bay is going to up the ante on round two and raise the level. I can’t go into any details , but it’s going to be some real one of a kind things in this movie that no one has seen visually in their life. Michael Bay is really fired up to try and outdo what he did on the first round.’

Transformers 2 Release Date?

Paramount Pictures has apparently set June 29th 2009 as the official release date for Transformers 2, according to BoxOfficeMojo.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay have signed with DreamWorks to make Transformers 2, which will hit theaters in Summer 2009. However, Michael Bay wrote last week on his blog that he might be “jump ship” to make a pre-strike movie. If Bay gets involved in a big budget picture like Disney’s Prince of Persia, who knows when Bay would be available for a Transformers sequel.

It took a little longer than 12 months to make the first film (pre-production to completion), and that probably involved a longer pre-production process (due to initial concepts and designs). So for Transformers 2 to hit screens in July of 2009, the film would need to begin production by Fall 2008. And if Bay were to make a pre-strike movie, that is the date he would need to be free by.

Transformers 2 Officially On Track for Summer 2009

It looks like those rumors about a 2009 release for Transformers 2 were on the money.

According to a report posted at Variety yesterday, Paramount and DreamWorks have reserved June 26, 2009 for the sequel's release -- despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding the return of key behind-the-scenes personnel. Although Michael Bay is "expected to return to direct the sequel," other members of the creative team may not. From the article:

The high-profile project isn't guaranteed total immunity from the ongoing battle of wills between DreamWorks' David Geffen and Steven Spielberg and leadership at Paramount conglom Viacom.

The studios stressed that they are targeting the June 26 date, but that it isn't ironclad.

Even if Spielberg and Geffen exit their deal at Paramaount, as they have threatened to do, the "Transformers" property stays at the Melrose lot, as do all other DreamWorks projects.

The article goes on to note that the studios are hoping to "at least begin production" on the sequel, even if it's interrupted by -- you guessed it -- next year's expected strike.

Other projects moving up and down the release schedule are Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney's The Savages (December 26 to November 30) and the Keanu Reeves-led The Day the Earth Stood Still (May 9 to December 12, 2008).
